The Inspiration Room includes historical images, paintings, displays and early mining technology artifacts. The room was named after the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company of Miami… and has truly become an inspiration to those who visit or enjoy an event or lecture in the space. Various mining related exhibits have been added to make this space multi use. The room now, as you see it, is used for events, lectures, college classes, and other community related activities. It can also be rented for an hourly rate for training, meetings, class reunions, and other events.

A large poster image of the Inspiration Smelter represents a central part of the room’s exhibits. A 1930s mural painting of the Bullion Plaza Dance Pavillion documents the local landscape.

This room was a classroom/lunch room… separated by a vinyl, bi fold wall, with two stages, closet space and a toilet. The room, prior to renovation, was in a significant state of disrepair. This space had an institutional drop ceiling and recessed fluorescent lights as well as 12×12, asbestos laden tile with a thick, black asbestos mastic gluing it to the floor. In addition… there was a duct work enclosure that ran the entire length of the west wall, partially covering the last two remaining transoms.

With the help of Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold – Miami Operations, the Freeport Foundation, volunteers, and many others… the room was brought back to life. Asbestos was abated, original hardwood maple floors were repaired and restored, a dropped ceiling was removed, fluorescent lighting removed, walls and ceiling repaired and painted, duct work removed, and ceiling fans and track lights were added. When the room was completed an HV/AC unit was added to make the room usable year round.
