The McKusick Tile Works Exhibit Room was originally an additional room of the Home Economics classroom. It has been restored and renovated by Kino Floors, RAM Specialists, Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold – Miami Unit, and volunteers. Floors were redone, track lights were installed, ceiling fans were added along with paint and new window blinds.
Funding was supplied by a grant from Globe/Miami United Fund and donations from Robert & Charmion McKusick.
This Exhibit gives visitors a look into ceramic development and creation elements of the McKusick Family. This is accomplished through a multi faceted exhibit of specialized ceramic tiles depicting the flora and fauna of the area and the Southwest.
Also included are other ceramic creations by the McKusicks, the equipment used to make these singular pieces of art, photographs, articles, and a video introducing the Family to our visitors.
This is a completely unique and one of a kind exhibit … and Bullion Plaza is extremely fortunate to enjoy its display and interpretation.
